INITIAL ARCANA CONVERSATIONS: JUSTICE
Sep. 18th, 2018 06:50 pmWhat you can call them: Astræa
What their conversation space looks like: A pared-down courtroom, with no witness stand, gallery, or seats for the jury and only one table and chair facing the judge’s bench. The wood in the room is old and well-polished. The walls are white-washed. There is a glass of clear, sweet water on the table and a pitcher beside to refill it. No matter how much water one drinks, there will always be more in the pitcher. On the front of the judge’s bench there is a bronze medallion of a scale crossed with a sword.
What can you expect from Arcana Chats: Astræa always begins by appearing out of nowhere at the judge’s bench, addressing you by your full name and introducing herself to you by her Arcana, number, and personal name in that order. Her skin is a very dark brown and her eyes are blindfolded. Despite that, one always has the feeling that she is looking at you. She’s customarily shrouded in a voluminous cloak of undyed linen, the same material as her blindfold. Astræa’s manner is stiff and formal, but not necessarily unfriendly. She might not answer questions, but when she does her answers all have an element of truth in them. (Occasionally it’s a truth stated misleadingly, but only when she wishes to conceal something.)
She remains pointedly neutral as a matter of principle in the current Arcana debate on whether or not Travelers are people. If asked about Moebius, she displays a great deal of guilt and regret on the subject. It’s one of the few topics that provokes an emotional reaction that breaks her calm. Another such topic is that of Eldritch Horrors, which she detests for their part in the death of Temperance. She will admit that her goal if she wins is to use the power remaining after she sends the Travelers to where they wish to go to strike a powerful blow against those Eldritch Horrors. Occasionally she will conjure up a whiteboard as a visual aid in explaining things to Travelers, using purple-gold glowing chalk to draw her diagrams.
